Soapstone Sinks

Soapstone sinks are the ultimate statement in style, and exclusivity. The point where beautiful form, meets exceptional function. Soapstone sinks are increasing in popularity and it’s not hard to see why.

Soapstone is incredibly durable. It is impervious to just about all liquids and chemicals making it stain resistant and incredibly easy to clean. Soapstone is also one of the least porous stones, meaning it is extremely hygienic and has a high degree of resistance to heat. That means you don’t have to worry about putting hot pots and pans right off the stove into your soapstone sink.

Soapstone is so durable in fact, that it’s not uncommon to come across stoves and sinks manufactured in the 1800’s still in use today.

Soapstone Sinks are likely to outlast you, and your home.

Beauty And Uniqueness

Every soapstone slab is 100% unique. No 2 slabs are alike. That means that your soapstone sink will be one-of-a-kind, and absolutely unique to your home.

Colors vary greatly, but depend largely on where the soapstone comes from. Colors vary from greens to grays, and everything in between. “Veining” usually reserved for the finest marbles, are common in soapstone sinks. Because the slab color is a natural process, doesn’t mean you’re powerless to personalize it – mineral oils can be applied to darken or lighten the tones, or you can go “Au Naturel”.

Soapstone sinks are ideal for many styles of homes from older traditional, or cottage style homes, to high end luxury homes – Soapstone appeals to the most discerning tastes.

There couldn’t be a more functional sink surface. Hot pot from the stove or oven to the sink? No problem! Soapstone is impervious to heat. Soapstone is also the least porous stone available meaning it’s almost impossible to absorb anything left in your sink. Sinks are easy to clean and maintain, and require no artificial cleaners or toxic sealers.

Soapstone is non-porous so it will never absorb liquids. All liquids, no matter how acidic can be wiped right off as well. This type of stone is so dense that no type of sealant is required at all. You can oil the countertop but this would only be done for aesthetic reasons.

Germs and Bacteria

You don’t have to worry about germs and bacteria invading your soapstone sink as already mentioned – soapstone is the least porous stone and will never absorb any kind of food residue. A simple wipe and you’re done.

Environmentally Friendly

It may sound strange to talk about something removed from the earth as being environmentally friendly, but consider this:

Soapstone is sustainable because it is harvested in far smaller amounts, is 100% natural requiring no artificial products to produce it, no sealers or toxic chemicals are used to finish it, and is 100% recyclable.

Man-made sink alternatives are almost all made from products that are devastating to the environment, and even other stone products require toxic sealers to enhance their appearance.

Return On Investment

It may seem odd talking about ROI in relation to sinks. And no, we’re not talking about the obvious emotional ROI you’ll get from the constant appreciation of your beautiful and unique kitchen. We’re talking about cold hard cash ROI!

Homes with Soapstone Countertops have reported a 50-80% increase in ROI when listing and selling their home. Seems the word is getting out about Soapstone, and buyers will pay for quality finishing materials.

Cost Effectiveness

Yes Soapstone slabs are more expensive than other natural stone countertops. However, there can be substantial savings in sure longevity of Soapstone, and the fact that it just never goes out of style. These make a strong case for the cost effectiveness and long-term value of Soapstone over alternatives.

It’s not uncommon to hear of Soapstone being passed on from one generation to the next, lasting many generations in some cases. And why not – if it does get scratched or dented you can easily sand these out. In fact, this is one of the most unique things about Soapstone.

If you know anyone who has a Soapstone Sink, then likely you know how much they love it.

Here's What Our Clients Have To Say

I used Greg to do my Soapstone bathroom several years ago. I was so happy back then with my bathroom and I still feel the same way today. I called Greg up at Soapstone Werks two months ago hoping he could do my kitchen and sink in Soapstone. Well they are finished now, and once again from start to finish it was a smooth and enjoyable experience with Greg and his workers. I cannot say enough about the quality of his work and the great customer service his company gives. Wendy and Hayley at the office were great in handling everything. Greg, you are a true artist with sink crafting!
